Michael J. Moflar, 85, of Morris Crossroads, Lake Lynn, Pa., died Friday, October 10, 2003 at his home. Born in Fredericktown, Pa., August 12, 1918 he was a son of John and Mary (Kubicar) Moflar.

A United States Army Veteran of World War II, he was a member of V.F.W. Post 747 and American Legion Post 499 both in Point Marion, Pa., Past Cheminot of the 40/8 Fayette County Voiture 18, and the York Run Grange.

He had formerly worked in Greene County coal mines and was a School Bus Driver in the Jefferson-Morgan School District.

For 30 years “Mike” worked for Matteucci Beer Distributor in Dry Tavern (Pa.) before opening his own distributorship, “Big Mike’s”, in Waynesburg, Pa.

He was currently Chairman of the Board for Mount Moriah Presbyterian Cemetery near Point Marion.

A daughter, Mary Kathryn Stadtmiller, four sisters, Mary Kostelnick, Kathryn Moflar, Ann Moflar, Helen Lisick, and parents preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Boord Moflar; son, Michael J. Moflar Jr. of Chula Vista, California; stepdaughter, Peggy Myers-Smith, Morgantown, West Virginia; stepson, William J. Baker, Kittanning, Pa.; five grandchildren: Michele Stadtmiller and Kathryn Lea Stadtmiller both of Arlington, Virginia, Michele Myers, Smithfield, Pa., Melissa France, Columbus, Ohio, and William Baker Jr., Kittanning; and three great grandchildren: Derek Hamm, Chelsea Hamm, and Austin France.

Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, 501 Morgantown Street, Point Marion, Pa., on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, October 14, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with Rev. George McLaughlin officiating.

Interment follows in Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion, where Military Honors will be accorded by Point Marion Veterans Posts.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to York Run Grange, c/o Patricia Smith, 106 Sleepy Hollow Road, Smithfield, PA 15478.

Grange Services will be held in the Funeral Home on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
