Owen F. O’Connor
Owen F. O’Connor, 78, of Smithfield, Pa., and formerly of Merrillville, Indiana, died Saturday, October 11, 2003 in Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Pa.
He was born October 25, 1924 in Uniontown, Pa., son of Edward O’Connor and Mary Mahoney O’Connor.
Owen retired in 1986 after 40 years with Pullman-Swindell Company.
He was a Veteran of World War II who served in the United States Army and a Life Member of V. F. W. Post 47 in Uniontown.
Owen was a very active member of Saint Andrew Roman Catholic Church in Merrillville, Indiana.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Eunice Board O’Connor in 1956, second wife, Jacqueline Freers O’Connor in 1986, brothers, Thomas O’Connor and his wife Beatrice and Regis O’Connor, a sister, Ellen Marie O’Connor Cooper, and parents.
Surviving are three children: Janice O’Connor Lewis and husband Larry D. Lewis, Smithfield, Pa., Phyllis O’Connor Daniocek, Amhurst, Ohio, and Bennett O’Connor and wife Joy, Lawrenceville, Georgia; nine grandchildren: Jason Lewis and wife Christina, Madison, Ohio, Alycia Lewis Jarrett and husband Rick, Masontown, Pa., Terri Shinsky and husband Bruce, Uniontown, Pa., Paul Picosky and wife April, York Run, Pa., Rebecca Daniocek, Amherst, Ohio, Ben O’Connor and wife Ashley, Duluth, Georgia, Erin O’Connor and Matt O’Connor both of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Joe Hobbs, Atlantic Beach, Florida; five great grandchildren: Justin Lewis, Erica Shinsky, Bruce Shinsky, Samantha Bensley and Olivia Fallica; brothers: James O’Connor and wife Joann, Uniontown, Pa., and William O’Connor, Eastlake, Ohio; and sister-in-law, Dorothy O’Connor, Uniontown, Pa.
Friends will be received at the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., today, October 13, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Parish Wake Service will be held in the Funeral Home today at 3:45 p.m. with Rev. Fr. William J. Kiel officiating.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said in Saint Andrew Roman Catholic Church, Merrillville, Indiana, on Thursday, October 16, at 10 a.m.
Interment will follow in Calumet Cemetery, Lake County, Indiana.
