The Carmichaels Area Women’s Civic Club named Jessica Irene McAlanis of Crucible as October girl of the month. She is a tenor saxophonist in the marching band and baritone saxophonist in the wind ensemble, senior high band treasurer, National Honor Society treasurer and a member of the concert and jazz bands, student council, senior standing committee, newspaper staff, and a four-year member of the Carmichaels Area News Network. She attained highest honors, is a published poet, was a dancer at the Tricia Ricco Dance Studio, lector at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Crucible, where she belongs to the Youth Group, was a volunteer at the Crucible Volunteer Fire Department and the Crucible playground and was involved in the after-school tutoring program.
After graduating in the spring, she plans to attend Slippery Rock University with a double major in broadcasting communications and education.
