Joseph Pishko Jr., 77, of Uniontown, Pa., died Monday, Oct. 27, 2003, in UPMC, Pittsburgh, Pa. He was born July 17, 1926, in Collier, Pa., son of the late Joseph Pishko Sr., and Frances Hubany Pishko.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas Pishko and Victor Pishko Sr.; a great-granddaughter, Meghan Pishko; a brother-in-law, Edwin Mangold; a nephew, James Mangold; and his mother-in-law, Viola Brink.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Betty D. Hornsby Pishko; nine children, Joseph Pishko III and companion, Marla of Swissvale, Pa., Larry Pishko and wife, Kathy of Ruffsdale, Pa., Karen Leydig and husband, Charles of Leith, Pa., Barbara Fields and husband, Wayne of Uniontown, Pa., Debra Johnson and husband, Harry of Fairchance, Pa., Valerie Pishko and fianc?, Dan Eppler of Tallahassee, Fla., Michele Pinkney and husband, George of Leith, Pa., Kevin Pishko and wife, Denise of New Baltimore, Mich., and Gregory Pishko and wife, Kim of West Palm Beach, Fla.; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth (Betty) Mangold of Fairchance, Pa., and Pauline DeLorenzo of Uniontown, Pa.; several nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Eva Pishko of Fairchance, Pa., and Norita Pishko of Collier, Pa.

Joe was a life member of VFW Post 47, Uniontown, Pa., American Legion Post 51, Uniontown, Pa., life member and past president of Lemont Sportsmen’s Club, Coolspring Athletic Club, and the National Rifle Association.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Yorktowne CV-10, and also served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Reserves.

The family will receive friends in the GOLDSBORO-TOMI FUNERAL HOME, 21 East Church St., Fairchance, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, until 9:30 a.m., when a Blessing Service will be held, with the Rev. Fr. David J. Nazimek and the Rev. George W. McLaughlin. Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa. Graveside military rites will be accorded by the VFW Post 47, Uniontown, Pa. A Wake Service will be held this evening at 7:30 p.m.
