Dr. Michael Edward “Mickey” Tippet
Dr. Michael Edward “Mickey” Tippet, age 56, of McClellandtown, Pa., passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 18, 2003 in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa.
He was born August 6, 1947 son of Mike Tippet and Mary Petran Tippet.
Dr. Tippet was an Educator and Administrator in the Albert Gallatin School District. He served the district as a Teacher, Principal, and for 14 years as Superintendent of Schools.
He also served as a Principal in the Uniontown Area School District.
He was a man of conviction and vision who had been instrumental in the merger of the German, Fairchance-Georges and Albert Gallatin High schools into Tri-Valley High School, which later became Albert Gallatin High School.
He was very interested in the local sports scene and active in local township politics.
Throughout his years he loved life and maintained a positive attitude, which helped him overcome many challenges.
He was a lifelong resident of McClellandtown, living there on his farm.
He enjoyed many accomplishments, but his great joy was his Family! He was a loving and devoted Husband and Father!
A sister, Marie Tippet Lucas, a nephew, Andrew Lucas, and parents preceded him in death.
Dr. Tippet is survived by his wife of 27 years, Elaine Marie (Check) Tippet; a son, Robert Michael Tippet and his fianc?e, Jennifer Stasko; a daughter, Rachel Marie Tippet; a sister, Patricia Gorman of Allison Park, Pa.; and two nephews: Jim Gorman and Charles Gorman. He is also survived by his loving Mother-In-Law, Mary Check, and Family of Masontown, Pa.
Friends will be received by the Family at the H. DAVID McELROY FUNERAL HOME, 803 Main Street, McClellandtown, Pa., today (Monday, September 22) until 10:30 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held in the Funeral Home.
A Funeral Mass follows at 11 a.m. in St. Mary Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Leckrone, Pa., with Rev. Fr. Donald Trexler as Celebrant and assisted by Rev. Fr. Robert Lewis.
Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Church Cemetery, Leckrone.
Visitation was also held Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m.
