Harassment City police charged Jessie McElroy, 50, of 230 N. 10th St. with simple assault and terroristic threats stemming from an incident April 20 in which McElroy allegedly threatened a 16-year-old male with a steak knife.

McElroy was arraigned before District Justice Robert Breakiron and remanded to the Fayette County Prison in lieu of $20,000 percentage bond. He will appear before District Justice Ronald Haggerty for a preliminary hearing at a later date.

Disorderly conduct

City police filed charges of disorderly conduct and harassment against Tonya Nudo, 30, of 340 1/2 N. Arch St. resulting from an incident on April 21 at 10:45 a.m. in which Nudo allegedly yelled obscenities at others in the 300 block of North Arch Street while she was outside her residence.

Nudo will appear before District Justice Ronald Haggerty at a later date.

Disorderly conduct

City police charged Pepsi Gaines, 24, of Republic with disorderly conduct for allegedly yelling obscenities near Gibson Terrace. Gaines will appear before District Justice Ronald Haggerty at a later date.

Car damaged

A concrete block was thrown through the rear window of a car owned by Amy Bloom of Rear 49 Walnut St. and the side of the car was scratched at her residence Sunday night or early Monday, city police said.

Vehicle accident

City police said Dwayne Morris, 62, of 123 Coffee St. lost control of his vehicle on Lebanon Avenue near Clarendon Street at 2:48 a.m. Monday. He struck several small bushes, grazed a utility pole and hit a Columbia Gas pipe. No injuries were reported.

Windshield broken

City police said the windshield was smashed and the hood damaged on a vehicle owned by Wendy Cindric while it was parked in the rear parking lot of Smithfield Bank between 8:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

City police said Jo Ann Shushok reported that a group of juveniles who were throwing rocks broke a storm window on her Liberty Street home at 10:44 p.m. Saturday.

City police said someone stole a red lawn mower from the back yard of Dorothy Brooks’ 142 Askren St. residence sometime Saturday.

Retail theft

City police said an unknown male stole a carton of cigarettes from the A-Plus on Morgantown Street at 12:05 a.m. Monday and fled.

West Brownsville

Kitchen fire

A fire at 430 Main St., West Brownsville, was confined to the kitchen Monday afternoon, according to West Brownsville Volunteer Fire Department Second Lt. Andy Staley.

Staley said there was fire damage to the kitchen and smoke damage to the upstairs, but there was no other damage in the house, which also serves as the office area for Cathy’s Enterprises Inc., a business offering notary and tax services.

Staley said the fire appeared to start around the stove.

West Brownsville was assisted at the scene by the Brownsville No. 1 (North Side), South Brownsville and Hiller volunteer fire departments and the Brownsville Ambulance Service Inc.

Crews were on the scene from 1:17 p.m. until 3:01 p.m.

Theft

Someone reportedly stole a carton of Newport cigarettes from the Exxon station at 312 Market St., Brownsville, around 7:05 p.m. Sunday.

According to a clerk at the store, a black male about 6-foot-1, bald with a thin build entered the store, grabbed the cigarettes and ran to a waiting car.

The man was wearing a burgundy shirt with yellow lettering and knee-length jeans shorts. He left in a burgundy Chrysler heading east on Route 40. Another black male and a white female were in the vehicle.

The cigarettes were valued at $39.61.

Burglary

Donna Shumar of 426 Union St., Brownsville, told police that someone took a 32-inch Phillips television and a Cyber Home DVD player from her house between 9 a.m., Saturday and 8:40 a.m., Sunday.

Trespassing

Brownsville police patrolling Patsy Hillman Park recently cited a number of people for defiant trespassing.

Officers found a truck driving on a dirt road near the ballfield Sunday at 9:09 p.m. and cited the driver and passengers for defiant trespassing, since the park closes at 9 p.m.

Cited in that incident were Dana McMasters, 25, of 801 High St., Brownsville; Crystal Carr, 21, of 75 High St., Brownsville; Michael Thompson, 26, of 75 South Hills Terrace; and John Close, 28, of 12 Spruce St., Stockdale. Close was also cited for driving without a license.

On April 21, Brownsville police cited Michael Maleta, 26, of 607 Elm St., Brownsville, and Rachel Newbery, 20, of Republic with defiant trespassing after they were found driving in the park at 2:52 a.m. Maleta was also cited for failure to register, insure or inspect his vehicle.

Officers stopped a vehicle with two people in it at the park at 10:35 p.m., April 19. The driver, Lorie Sabo, 28, of 1424 Sheridan Ave., Brownsville, was cited for trespassing and driving with an expired license.

Charges are pending against her passenger.

Three people were cited for defiant trespassing in two separate incidents April 17.

Officers cited Adam Check, 19, of 409 Back St., Dunbar, and Sara Malone, of 109 Alicia Heights Road, Brownsville, for defiant trespassing in an incident at 11:55 p.m.

Samuel Strickland of 208 Adams Ave., West Brownsville, was cited for defiant trespassing at 11:46 p.m. that same night.

Criminal mischief

Denise Moore, of 433 Zazado Road, Grindstone, told Brownsville police that someone scratched all sides of her car while she was eating at the Thompson House on Water Street, Saturday. The incident was reported Saturday at 11:15 p.m.

Man cited

Brownsville police cited Michael Kubizna, 22, of 252 Middle St., Apt. 2, West Brownsville, for operating a quad on a borough street. Kubizna was apprehended following a foot chase in a wooded area and the quad was impounded.

Kubizna was also cited for lack of registration and insurance and for unsafe operating of the quad.

Assault

Greg Sekora of Brownsville told police that a man known to him attacked him with a crow bar in the 400 block of Green Street around 4:25 p.m., April 20.

Sekora was bleeding from the arm. Charges are pending in the case.

Criminal mischief

Holly Stilton of 530 Hibbs St. told Brownsville police that someone known to her scratched her car. The incident was reported April 18 at 2:55 a.m.
