George Duygo
George Duygo, 82, of Point Marion (Nilan), Pa., died Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at his home. He was born Aug. 3, 1921, in Nicholson Township, Pa., son of the late Paul and Mary Pechar Gyugo.
He was a member of St. Hubert Roman Catholic Church, American Legion Post 499, Hutchinson Sportsman Club, and the UMWA. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of the U.S. Army, Combat Engineers and a recipient of the Purple Heart.
He is survived by his wife, Catharine Richards Duygo; twin sons, Daniel G. Duygo of Washingtonville, N.Y., and Donald R. Duygo of Montros, Va.; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Virgie Walsh of Lisbon, Ohio, and Helen Roos of Point Marion.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Paul and Michael.
Friends will be received in THE LOUIS E. RUDOLPH FUENRAL HOME, 15 Main St., Point Marion, today from 6 to 9 p.m., Brief prayers will be said in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m., on Thursday, April 29, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Fr. Joseph L. Sredzinkski officiating, in the Lions Club Hall, Point Marion. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion, where military service swill be accorded at the graveside by the American Legion Post No. 499, and the V.F.W. Post No. 747 of Point Marion. The Parish Rosary will be held today at 8:30 p.m.
