Mess on Route 21

No injuries were reported when this truck carrying coal sludge overturned along Route 21 Wednesday morning. The truck and another vehicle were involved in the accident, which occurred at around 9:30 a.m. in front of the 19th Hole lounge, according to Fayette County 911. The truck overturned and spilled its contents onto Route 21, forcing the road’s closure for three hours, according to Adam Buchheit, South Union fire chief. The truck, owned by Penn Transportation, was headed westbound on Route 21 when the accident occurred. State police, along with New Salem Volunteer Fire Department, American Ambulance, Fayette EMS and Uniontown Fireman’s Ambulance Corps joined South Union in responding to the accident.
