Albert M. Yaksic

Albert M. “Bingo” Yaksic, 74, of Little River, S.C., formerly of Brownsville, Pa., died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, in Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. He was born Jan. 3, 1930, in Braznell, Pa., son of the late Matthew and Isabelle Simpson Yaksic.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Matthew, Kenneth and Thomas.

He was retired from Hillman Barge after 33 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Okinawa.

He was a member of South Brownsville United Methodist Church, VFW of Little River, Nemacolin Woodlands 400 Club, and an honorary fireman for the South Brownsville Fire Department.

Most importantly, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bernice Bell Yaksic; daughters, Brenda Yaksic of Oakland, Md., Janet Conn and her husband, Anthony of Ellsworth, Pa.; grandson, Norman Wible and his wife, Jessica of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; granddaughter, Mandy Wible and fianc?, Kevin Gause and great-grandson, Elijah Gause of Longs, S.C.; sisters, Nellie Newhouse and Florence Conn, both of Brownsville; brothers, James and his wife, Shirley of Florida, and William of East Millsboro, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service was held at LEE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, Little River. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, South Carolina Chapter, 310 Broad St., Suite 2A, Charleston, SC 29401, or South Brownsville United Methodist Church, 412 2nd St., Brownsville, PA 15417.
