Joseph D. Chidester Sr., 79, of Lemont Furnace, Pa., died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born Aug. 19, 1925, in Uniontown, Pa., a son of the late John and Maryann Chidester.

Also preceding him in death were his wife, Beatrice Turner Chidester; a sister, Sarah Elliott; and three brothers, Neal, Harry and Bob Chidester.

Mr. Chidester was a former employee of the Uniontown Enamel Plant and the Dietz Lumber Company, and a member of the Hutchinson Sportsmen’s Club.

Surviving are three children, Joseph D. Chidester, Jr., of Lemont Furnace, and Lucinda Kalfut and Georgia Good, both of Uniontown, Pa.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edra Bailey, also of Uniontown.

Friends will be received in the JEROME W. SHELL FUNERAL HOME, 164 South Mount Vernon Ave., Uniontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be held at 8 p.m. Private interment will be in Sylvan Heights Cemetery on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004.
