Andrew F. Cubic Jr.
Andrew F. Cubic Jr., age 78, of 2 Blaney Street, Masontown, PA 15461 died Saturday, December 4, 2004, at 1:41 a.m. in UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh, Pa.
He was born April 26, 1926, in Youngstown, Ohio, son of Andrew F. Cubic Sr. and Helen (Saverko) Cubic.
Andrew was a member of All Saints Roman Catholic Church in Masontown, The Holy Name Society, Vice President of All Saints Holy Name Society, and a Third Degree Knight in The Knights of Columbus.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 423 and V.F.W. Post 4584.
Until retirement he had been employed as a Coal Miner for USX-Maple Creek Mine and was a member of United Mine Workers of America Local 1248.
He was a “regular” at Janet’s Restaurant.
His wife, Vivian Justice Cubic, died January 3, 1984. Andrew was also predeceased by a sister, Irene Cubic Orlick, and his parents.
He is survived by his mother, Helen Saverko Cubic; two daughters: Andrea Cubic Shimek and her husband, George Shimek, of McClellandtown, Pa., and Paula Cubic Connelly and her husband, John Connelly, of Point Marion, Pa.; a son, Drew Michael Cubic and his wife, Ellen, of Nemacolin, Pa.; six Grandchildren: Danny Shimek and his fianc?e, Kim, of Merrittstown, Pa., Danielle and her husband, John Guthrie, of Uniontown, Pa., David Shimek and his wife, Autumn, of Leckrone, Pa., James Belan and his wife, Barb, of Point Marion, Pa., Drew Cubic of Nemacolin, Pa., and Lucas Cubic of Nemacolin, Pa.; great grandson, David John Shimek Jr. of Leckrone, Pa.; and great granddaughter, Emily Beatty of Point Marion, Pa.
Friends will be received in the JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church on 7 River Avenue, Masontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, December 7, until 12:30 p.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.
A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 1 p.m. in All Saints Roman Catholic Church, Masontown, with the Rev. Father James F. Bump as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Saint Agnes Cemetery, Masontown, where Military Honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 423 and V.F.W. Post 4584.
Family requests that donations be made to All Saints Cemetery Fund, 101 West Church Street, Masontown, PA 15461.
Parish Wake Service will be held in the Funeral Home this afternoon.
The Knights of Columbus will stand as Honor Guard this evening.
The Holy Name Society will recite the Rosary in the Funeral Home today at 7 p.m.
Visitation was also held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
