Verna Gaydos Wallace
Verna F. Gaydos Wallace, age 90, of Edenborn, Pa., died Thursday, December 2, 2004, in Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Pa.
She was born on October 16, 1914, in Edenborn, Pa., a daughter of Anna and Adam Gaydos.
Verna was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Saint Mary Roman Catholic Church, in Leckrone, Pa., and a 1934 graduate of the former German Township High School, McClellandtown, Pa.
She was an avid shopper, bingo player, daily lottery player and homemaker.
She was a lifelong resident of Edenborn, Pa., who loved the first red tomato of the season!
Verna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl “Doc” Wallace in 2001, a son, William “Bill” Wallace, a daughter-in-law, Mary Louise “Betty” Wallace, three sisters, Mary Christopher, Anna Mihallik and Helen Hanuschock, a brother, Michael Gaydos, a son-in-law, Richard Smith, and her parents.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Smith of Edenborn, Pa.; grandchildren: Kimberly Francetic and her husband, Andrew, of Euclid, Ohio, and Melissa Bulifant and her husband, Paul, of Bethel Park, Pa.; great-grandchildren: Matthew Bulifant of Bethel Park, Pa., Samantha Francetic and Victoria Francetic both of Euclid, Ohio; and her best friend, Maggie.
Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC., A Dignity Memorial Provider, 515 North Main Street, Masontown, Pa., today (Monday, December 6) until 10:30 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.
A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Saint Mary Roman Catholic Church, Leckrone, with the Rev. Father Donald P. Trexler as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Leckrone.
Visitation was also held Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m.
A Parish Wake Service was held Sunday evening at 8:30 p.m.
The family wishes to thank the Molnar Personal Care Home and the Cloverdale Personal Care Home for making a wonderful home for her in her last years. The family also wishes to thank Dr. Sean Conley and Nurses, Angela and Rita, from the Uniontown Hospital for the wonderful care they gave our Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma in her final hours.
