Robbery attempted City police said an unidentified knife wielding robber dropped his weapon and ran after his intended victim, a pizza delivery driver, punched him in the face Tuesday evening. Police said Pizza Hut delivery driver James “Jay” Hockenberger had just delivered a pizza to a Coffey Street home and was returning to his car when he found the robber waiting there for him. The robber demanded money, but Hockenberger told him he had none because the customer pre-paid with a credit card. The robber then pulled out a knife, but Hockenberger punched him in the face. The suspect dropped the knife and ran, police said. The knife was recovered. He was described as a white male, 30-40 years old with facial hair. He was wearing a dark hat, jeans and white tennis shoes.

State police said someone broke into a garage at James Illar’s residence and stole a 12-inch Craftsman miter saw and a 50-foot extension cord between 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday.

Driver cited
Charges were filed against Donald L. Gaskill Jr. of Hibbs after he failed to negotiate a left curve in a state road, about a mile north of Route 40, and struck an embankment and a small tree Tuesday at 10:50 a.m., state police said. He was not injured, but his car was severely damaged. The charges were filed at District Justice Jesse Cramer’s office.

City police said an American flag was stolen from Hala Zamora’s 75 E. Highland Ave. home late Monday or early Tuesday.

City police said a 14-year-old girl was caught stealing $14 in merchandise from Family Dollar on Morgantown Street Tuesday at 5:01 p.m. Charges are pending.

Man charged
State police filed hit-and-run charges against a man after his 1989 Chevrolet allegedly struck the front of a 1990 Chevrolet Beretta on Route 201 at 4:15 p.m. Saturday. Police said the man allegedly left the scene without exchanging information with the other driver. Neither driver was injured in the accident, police said.

State police are looking for Bruce Fitzgerald, 23, of Connellsville for outstanding warrants after Fitzgerald allegedly entered Patti Flynn’s Englishmen Hill Road residence, ran to the rear of the trailer and began striking 31-year-old Flynn with his fist at 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Anyone with information on Fitzgerald’s whereabouts is encouraged to call the state police in Uniontown at 724-439-7111.

State police said seven males allegedly stole a vehicle from Kobi Shae Delorenzo’s Artis Avenue residence sometime between 10 a.m. Friday and 1:19 a.m. Saturday.

Someone removed a television satellite dish from the side yard of Toad M. Tate’s Ferguson Road residence sometime between 11 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday, state police said. Lottery tickets stolen
State police said someone stole numerous PA Instant Lottery Tickets and $55 in change from the Luckmor Amoco Station in Farmington after the culprits entered the location by smashing a rear window at 3:08 a.m. Friday. Police said the investigation is ongoing, but pending while the video surveillance system is processed. Someone stole a brown 1985 Ford truck from the driveway of Ernest Yauger’s 129 Pine Ridge Road residence sometime between 8:30 p.m. Sunday and 5:40 a.m. Monday, state police said.

Truck stolen
State police recovered a stolen 2000 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck on Kilatney Road at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday after the truck was reportedly stolen from the driveway of 62-year-old Albert Ludwig’s 250 Pleasant Valley Road residence sometime between 6 p.m. Sunday and 5:30 a.m. Police said the truck, when recovered, had a stolen registration plate that belonged to John E. Eutsey of Mount Pleasant.
Police said the truck was destroyed by fire. Police suspected three juveniles in the crime.

Christina Potts of Mount Pleasant told state police her vehicle was scratched while it was parked in the lot of a Route 40 restaurant Monday evening.

Charges filed
Charges of retail theft were filed against Justin Sharp, 19, of South Connellsville when he allegedly drove off without paying for gasoline at the Sheetz convenience store located at the intersection of Routes 119 and 982 at 11:59 a.m. Nov. 14, state police said.
Police said security cameras and store personnel aided in the investigation that assisted police to make positive identification of Sharp and his vehicle.

State police cited Jason Lee Blackburn, 28, with criminal mischief and harassment after he allegedly scraped the arm of Raven Lee Sohonage, 22, and broke several household items valued at $450 at a residence along Route 982 at 4 a.m. Sunday.

State police said a Lake Lynn man struck Hazel R. Johnson of Lake Lynn in the face and head using his fists at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at 128 Hillcrest Drive. Police said Johnson suffered injuries from the attack.

Someone stole the coin money out of the manager’s office in Hardee’s sometime between 12:30 and 4:55 a.m. Sunday, state police said. Someone also threw a concrete ashtray and garbage can through a glass door at this location, police said.
