Donald B. Shipley
Donald B. Shipley, 78, of Chalk Hill, passed away Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, in Mount Macrina Manor. He was born June 23, 1926, in Brownsville, to the late Milford Shipley and Georgia Hess Shipley.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Glenn Shipley.
Don was a graduate of Redstone High School, and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. While in the Navy, he served aboard the U.S.S. Quincy in both the Pacific and European Theaters of Operation. He was a member of the Dunlap Creek Presbyterian Church and VFW Post 47. Don was also an avid fisherman and golfer.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rosella Yeager Shipley; two daughters, Donna Guest and her husband Doug of Scottdale and Vicki Neill of Houston, Texas; and four grandchildren, Tera, Lindsey, Dana Guest and Jack Neill and wife Anh.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pa., where friends will be received on Saturday form 3 to 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 2 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friends will also be received on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. Dennis Henley officiating. Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill. Full military rites will be accorded at the cemetery by VFW Post 47.
