Donald B. Shipley
Donald B. Shipley, 78, of Chalk Hill, passed away Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, in Mount Macrina Manor. He was born June 23, 1926, in Brownsville, to the late Milford Shipley and Georgia Hess Shipley.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Glenn Shipley.
Don was a graduate of Redstone High School, and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. While in the Navy, he served aboard the U.S.S. Quincy in both the Pacific and European Theaters of Operation. He was a member of the Dunlap Creek Presbyterian Church and VFW Post 47. Don retired from Republic Steel after 20 years and was Superintendent of Clyde Mine, and he was also an avid fisherman and golfer.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rosella Yeager Shipley; two daughters, Donna Guest and her husband Doug of Scottdale and Vicki Neill of Houston, Texas; and four grandchildren, Tara, Lindsey, Dana Guest and Jack Neill and wife Anh..
