Floyd Osler
Floyd Osler, age 94, of Markleysburg, Pa., passed away Friday, December 10, 2004, at his home.
He was born June 14, 1910, in Beaver Creek, Pa., son of Freeman and Annie (Spears) Osler.
He was a long-term member of Gospel Center Church and a Charter Member of the Markelysburg-Henry Clay Volunteer Fire Company.
Floyd referred to himself as the jack-of-all-trades. In his early years, he was in the Timber business. During the Depression, he worked for the WPA as a stonemason. He retired from Penn Line Service in 1975.
In Floyd’s retired years he owned and operated Osler’s Restaurant, now known as Topo’s Restaurant. He also enjoyed potato farming and distributing them to local businesses, friends and family.
Floyd led a blessed life full of God, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Glass Osler, three brothers, seven sisters and his parents.
Surviving are two sons: Herbert Osler and wife, June, of Pawley’s Island, South Carolina, and Marvin Osler and wife, Sally, of Markleysburg, Pa.; seven grandchildren: Cindy King, Kim Pifer, Douglas Osler, Bryan Osler, Amy Clinton, Bradley Osler and Birkett Osler; 12 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received in the RODNEY S. TURNER FUNERAL HOME, 254 Main Street, Markleysburg, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Additional visitation will be held on Monday, December 13, in Markleysburg Gospel Church from Noon until 1 p.m., the hour of Service with the Rev. Martin Stewart officiating.
Interment will follow in Addison Cemetery.
Visitation was also held Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.
