Joseph M. Sova
Joseph M. Sova, age 97, of Uniontown, Pa., died peacefully at home with his loving family at his side.
He was born on August 26, 1907, in Smock, Pa., son of Michael Joseph Sova and Mary Catherine (Garcher) Sova.
Joseph was a member of Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church.
He was retired from United States Steel Corporation. He was a coal miner for many years, a member of United Mine Workers of America District 2 Local 6321, and The National Slovak Society.
As a husband and father, there could be no other as loving and caring as he! His songs sung to those he loved will be held close and dear to our hearts and remembered forever by his family and many friends.
His parents, four sisters, Anna Simpson, Mary Urasek, Helen Arcuri and infant Julia Sova, two brothers, John R. Sova and Andrew M. Sova, preceded him in death.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Isabella (Valentich) Sova, with whom he celebrated 63 wonderful years of marriage on October 25, 2004; his loving daughter, Eleanor D. Rusnak and her husband, Robert, of Columbia, Maryland; a brother, Michael Thomas Sova and his wife, Joan, of Elyria, Ohio; sisters: Catherine Sova of Elyria, Ohio, and Cecelia Sova Popik of Cleveland, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC. AT SYLVAN HEIGHTS CEMETERY, A Dignity Memorial Provider, 603 North Gallatin Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday, December 13, until 9 a.m., when Closing Prayers will be said.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 a.m. in Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Jefferson Street, with the Rev. Father William J. Kiel as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
