Walter Michantz, age 81, of Carmichaels, Pa., died Thursday, December 9, 2004, in Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Pa.

He was born August 10, 1923, in Blairsville, Pa., son of Gust and Sophia (Schenchuck) Michantz.

Walter was a retired coal miner from Duquesne Light Company in Greensboro, Pa.

He was a member of the Carmichaels Congregation Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and the United Mine Workers of America.

Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Fordyce) Michantz, two brothers, John and Gust Michantz, and his parents.

He survived by his sisters and brothers: Mary Wiseboro, Ann Shaffer, Mike Michantz and William Michantz.

Friends will be received in the PAUL MICHAEL LESAKO FUNERAL HOME INC., 204 Dowlin Avenue, Carmichaels, Pa., Paul M. Lesako, Supervisor, today (Sunday, December 12) from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. in the funeral home with Mr. Kenneth Knetzer officiating.

Burial will be on Monday, December 13, in Laurel Point Cemetery, Carmichaels.
