Andrew Miklasevich
Andrew (Andy) Miklasevich, 84, of Roscoe, Pa., died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, in Mon Valley Hospital Inc., after a lengthy illness. He was born Oct. 24, 1920, in Centerville, Pa., a son of the late Andrew and Julia Gmitro Miklasevich.
He was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, the Roscoe Slovak Club, the Roscoe American Legion, Post 801, Allenport Rod and Gun Club, a life member and past president of the Roscoe Volunteer Fire Department, Moose Lodge of Cokeburg, and served from 1940 to 1945, in the European Theater with the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving the Bronze Star for his duties as Medic with the 414th Armored Field Artillery Battalion.
He retired as a crane operator for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen Plant in 1983, after 38 years of service.
Surviving are a daughter, Rita Romansky and husband, Michael of Venetia; a son, James Miklasevich and wife, Rose of Dayton, Ohio; three grandchildren, Emily, Matthew and Molly Miklasevich of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Sophia Miklasevich of Hershey, Pa., and Anne Carty of Umillto, Fla.; one brother, Fred Miklasevich of Merced, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Stella in April of 2002; a sister, Helen Miklasevich; and four brothers, Billy, Michael, Donald and Louie.
Friends will be received from 4 to 9 p.m., on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, in the ED MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES INC., Roscoe, with funeral services to be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m., at the funeral home, and at 10 a.m., in St. Joseph’s R.C. Church of Roscoe, with Fr. George Moneck officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Coal Center, Pa.
