Jacob J. Guzy
Jacob J. Guzy, 87, of Uniontown, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, in his home. Born September 15, 1917 in Mount Pleasant, Pa., he was the son of the late Joseph and Antonette Guzy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Rohaly Guzy on October 1, 1988; his sisters, Nellie Sroka, Anna Opelar, Antis Burkes, and Alice Krincuis; brothers, John, Andrew, Stanley, Michael and Joseph, Jr.
Jacob was a member of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, was employed as a coal miner in the West Leisenring Mine and was the former owner/operator of Guzy’s Tavern and the Corner Inn.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Elizabeth Guzy of Uniontown and Christine Patek and husband John of Uniontown; devoted granddaughters, Courtney Patek and Katie Patek, whom he loved and adored; his brother, Walter Guzy and wife Helen of Uniotnown; his sister, Violet Scuri and husband Leonard of Greensburg; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN E. KEZMARSKY III FUNERAL HOME, at 71 Pennsylvania Aveune, Uniontown, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday until 8:30 a.m., when a blessing service will be held followed by a 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Walnut Hill Road, Uniontown, with the Rev. Fr. Alexander Pleban as celebrant. Interment follows in Saint Joseph R.C. Church Cemetery, Hopwood. Service by the ministries of consolation will be held today at 7:30 p.m.
