Ellsworth Curry

Ellsworth “Duke” Curry, age 88, of 109 Jefferson Street, Uniontown, Pa., passed Saturday, December 18, 2004, while in the Uniontown Hospital.

He was born October 23, 1916, in Uniontown, Pa., son of George and Jane (Crable) Curry.

“Duke” was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Pastor Steward and Trustee.

He graduated from Uniontown Area High School and was a member of the Boosters Club.

He had worked for 44 years for the Uniontown Sanitation Department and retired as the Superintendent.

His parents, brother, Ronald, and sister, Sandra, preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Lee Curry; three children: Allyn Curry of Bloomington, Indiana, Adrian Curry and his wife, Kim, of Uniontown, Pa., and Janis Monroe and her husband, George, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; three grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother, Fayette County Detective Lawrence Curry and his wife, Rena, of Uniontown, Pa.; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Friends will be received in the MURIEL E. LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, 297 East Main Street, Uniontown, Pa., on Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m. where Services will be held Wednesday, December 22, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Crable officiating.

Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown.
