Thelma M. Coffman

Thelma M. Coffman, 89, of Coraopolis, Pa., formerly of Connellsville, Pa., and South Connellsville, Pa., went to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, in Sewickley Valley Hospital. She was born Dec. 12, 1915, in Morgantown, W.Va., a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Havner McElhaney.

Mrs. Coffman attended Connellsville High School. Prior to her marriage, she worked for five years at Anchor Hocking, and she then worked for 30 years as the custodian of the Albright United Methodist Church of South Connellsville.

She was a 74-year member of the Albright United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Ever Faithful Sunday School Class, and the Women’s Society.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

She is survived by three children, Dorene Provance and her companion, Edward Miller of Dunbar, Donald L. Coffman and his wife, Mary of Palm Springs, Calif., and Connie Work of Moon Township, with whom she resided; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Hobart Lewis Coffman in 1968; a grandson, Darren Provance; a great-grandson, Daryl Provance; three sisters, Frances Smith, Wanetta McElhaney and Vera I. McElhaney; and two brothers, Franklin McElhaney and Donald McElhaney, who was killed in World War II.
