John D. Close
John Darl Close, 83, of Markleysburg, Pa., passed away Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, in Myersdale Hospital. He was born July 23, 1921, in Somerfield, Pa., son of the late John W. and Mary Margaret Crawford Close.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters and three brothers, Millie Close, Helen O. Rosenberger, Samuel T., Wilber Scott and George W. Close.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys Kamp Close; two sons, Fred Close and wife, Mary Louise of Smithfield, and Eugene Close and wife, Margaret (Peggy) of Accident, Md.; two grandchildren, Amber Close of Washington, D.C., and Aaron Close of Accident, Md.; and one sister, Mary M. Enos of Newville, Pa.
John was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, was a life member of Markleysburg-Henry Clay Volunteer Fire Department, and was retired from Sproul Lumber Company.
Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME OF FARMINGTON, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m., in Zion Lutheran Church, Accident, Md., with the Rev. Dr. Wilfred Karsten officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Accident, Md.
