Police charge Hunker woman in Connellsville robbery
CONNELLSVILLE – A Hunker woman was charged by police with robbery Wednesday after she allegedly pushed a Connellsville woman to the ground and took her purse. Tabatha K. Steindl, 20, cried as District Justice Ronald Haggerty told her that if she could not raise the imposed $10,000 cash bond she would be jailed after the arraignment hearing.
“All the drugs have ruined my life,” she told Haggerty.
According to the criminal complaint filed by Connellsville police, shortly before 1 p.m., Steindl allegedly approached the woman, as she was walking along North 9th Street, knocked her to the ground and fled with the woman’s purse. The victim was identified as Betty Richey, no address or age given.
A man that witnessed the incident gave police a description of the vehicle used by Steindl following the robbery.
Police said Steindl was apprehended a short time later.
In addition to robbery, Steindl is charged with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and harassment in connection with the incident.
In an unrelated incident, Steindl was arraigned on charges of possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia on Nov. 15 when police allegedly found her with a hypodermic syringe. According to the criminal complaint filed by Connellsville police, Steindl was found rummaging through a trash can along Greely Avenue.
When found, police said Steindl admitted that she was “looking for her heroin needle” that she had used the prior night to inject heroin.
Haggerty imposed a recognizance bond.
A Jan. 5 preliminary hearing was set for both matters.
