Dorothea McNelis
Dorothea McNelis, 95, of California, Pa., entered into rest Tuesday, May 4, 2004, in Flo’s Personal Care Home, Elco. She was born March 17, 1909, in Pittsburgh, Pa., a daughter of the late Lawrence and Anna Berndt Schott.
She was one of the oldest and active members of St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church of California.
Survivors include six children, Richard McNelis of Milwaukee, Wis., Patricia Hutchins of Marietta, Ga., Rita Sloan of Stockdale, Bernard McNelis of Newton Falls, Ohio, David McNelis of Mount Lebanon, and Michael McNelis of Washington, Pa.; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Clara Jo Boland of Binghamton, N.Y.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis McNelis in 1993; a brother, Edward Schott; two sisters, Antoinette Van Kirk and Frances Neckermann; a daughter, Dorothea Glott; three grandchildren, Alan Glott, Patricia Glott and Lynn Ann Powell; and one great-grandchild, Jacob Brooker.
Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday from 9 to 11 a.m., in the ED MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES INC., Roscoe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 7, 2004, at noon in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, California. Everyone will meet at the church. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Coal Center. In lieu of flowers, sympathy contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
