John Hela Sr.
John Hela Sr., 85, of Jefferson Township, Fayette County, Pa., died Thursday, May 6, 2004, in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc., Carroll Township. He was born October 8, 1918, in Fayette City, Pa., son of George Hela and Sophia Dorchincez Hela.
John was a Veteran of World War II who served with the United States Army.
He was a member of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in Belle Vernon, Pa., and retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel’s Monessen Plant.
Five brothers, George, Mike, Pete, Andrew and Steve, one sister, Ann Hela Kushnar, and parents preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Julia Lucas Hela; children: Marcia Hela of Mount Pleasant, Pa., and John Hela Jr. at home; one brother, Charles Hela of Jefferson Township, Pa.; also numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the ELEY-McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., 334 Main Street, Fayette City, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday from Noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, May 10, until 10 a.m. when a Blessing Service will take place in the Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. John Kluchko as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
Parastas Service will take place in the Funeral Home on Sunday evening at 8 p.m.
