HISTORICALLY SPEAKING

2 min read

Historically speaking is hosted by Robert Adamovich a local historian, lecturer and engineer. Robert’s love for the Laurel Highlands and the wonderful rich history of western Pennsylvania can be shared and experienced by everyone through this program.

When Robert met with Herald-Standard publisher Val Laub, who suggested writing a history column, new opportunities began to present themselves. The opportunity to take over for the great Walter “Buzz” Storey was as Robert states “An honor and chance of a lifetime.” However, the column was only part of the project, Laub also suggested a television counterpart. Robert gave serious thought regarding what it would take to create and develop the show. He decided for the program to be successful it had to be informative, have superb guests, and most of all be entertaining. Months of work went into all aspects of the show from the smallest details to the overall format.

On Monday, December 29th, 2003 “Historically Speaking” debuted on HSTV. The first show featured Matt Stein, master woodworker. Additional guests have included Robert Matzen, historical filmmaker; John Buxton, historical artist; and Phil Cravener, master gunsmith. All of the guests are considered to be the best in their respective fields. “We are indeed blessed to have such remarkable world-class guests on the show,” states Robert. Furthermore, as Robert says “We must keep in mind that we are just in the infant stage of the show, we have come a long way in a very short period of time and hold high expectations in the future.”

Those expectations and future goals will allow “Historically Speaking” to reach new heights. Afterall, “to look to our future, we must fully appreciate and embrace our historical past,” states Robert. “Historically Speaking” is a program dedicated to our area’s rich heritage which permits a way for that message to be conveyed to our viewers.
