James Franklin Minerd
James Franklin Minerd “Jim”, 63, of Masontown, Pa., passed away Friday, May 21, 2004 in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia.
He was born May 20, 1941 in Masontown, Pa.
“Jim” was a Carpenter by trade and lived and worked in the Rockville, Maryland, area for a number of years.
He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War and a Life Member of the Masontown V.F.W.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry R. and Mary Blair Minerd, three brothers, William, Charles and Kenneth, niece, Diana L. Shaffer, and nephew, Joseph Shaffer Jr.
Surviving are two sons: Robert Minerd and wife Virginia of Masontown and James Minerd of Masontown; stepson, Allen Carter of Utah; brothers: Robert Minerd and wife Minta, Ted Minerd, Tony Minerd and Donald Minerd all of Masontown; sisters: Betty Shaffer and husband Joseph of Smithfield, Pa., and Patty Maust of Uniontown, Pa.; Grandson, Robert A. “Robby” Minerd of Masontown; step Grandchildren: Jacob, Brian, Anthony and Melissa all of Utah; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the BERNARD M. TOWNSEND FUNERAL HOME, 220 South Main Street, Masontown, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, May 25, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with the Rev. Josh Ryan officiating.
Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded by Masontown V.F.W.
