Walter “Ed” Lytle, 79, of Continental 2, Uniontown, Pa., died Friday, May 21, 2004 in the Uniontown Hospital.

He was born June 29, 1924 in Ohiopyle, Pa., son of Frank Lytle and Mary Jane Fleegle Lytle.

Mr. Lytle worked in various United States Steel coal mines during his 42-year career as a Coal Miner, Maple Creek Mine being his last place of employment before his retirement.

He was a member of United Mine Workers of America Local 1248, Charter Member of Hutchinson Sportsmen’s Club, a member of Continental 2 Rod and Gun Club and Amend Hunting and Fishing Club and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

“Ed” was a World War II United States Navy Veteran who served in the Pacific Theatre.

He was predeceased by one son, Ewing Paul Lytle, three sisters, May Morrison, Ruth Churby, Delorian David, brothers, Herbert Lytle and an infant brother Robert Lytle, and his parents.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Swaney Lytle; three children: Edward Lytle and his wife Earlene of Powell, Tennessee, Mary Kay Jenkins and her husband Barry of Haydentown, Pa., and Susan Bartock and her husband Michael of Shoaf, Pa.; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and four sisters: Lucy Parnell of Canton, Ohio, Mary Elizabeth Sarver of Perry, Ohio, Della Swaney and her husband William of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Kathryn Baughman of Euclid, Ohio.

The Family will receive Friends in the GOLDSBORO-TOMI FUNERAL HOME, 21 East Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, May 24, until 10 a.m., the hour of Service with the Rev. Madison L. Stringfellow officiating.

Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park, Brownfield, Pa.
