Alvinia “Peg” Broadwater
Alvinia “Peg” Broadwater, 90, of Isabella Road, East Millsboro, Pa., passed away Monday, May 24, 2004, in Canonsburg General Hospital, Canonsburg, Pa. She was born July 4, 1913, in Waverly, W.Va., a daughter of the late Herbert W. Mortland and Amanda Ruth Saunders Mortland.
Alvinia was a member of the Hopewell Presbyterian Church, Hopewell Road, Brownsville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. “Curly” Broadwater, in 1989; daughters, Joyce Smith and Mona Slagle; grandchildren, Donald L. Broadwater and Richard Ewing; a sister, Faye Mortland; and brothers, Audley, Lynford, Paul, Wayne and Gale Mortland.
Surviving are the following sons and daughters, Ted Broadwater and wife, Yvonne of Arensburg, Pa., Donna Ewing of Glenshaw, Pa., Brenda Ashcraft of Santa Maria, Calif., and Brent Broadwater and wife, Wanda of East Millsboro, Pa.; grandchildren, Melanie Bagwell, Kimberly Dominek, Kathy Pajak, Bryan Maglietta, Amy Knibb, Carmen Sowder, Damon Maglietta, Carrie Hawk, Teresa Mayle, Amanda Broadwater, Edward Broadwater, Peggy Boyza, Mark Smith, Lori Boyza, Charles Smith, Tammy Strop, Troy Slagle, Todd Slagle and Kristy Slagle; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received in the ROBERT T. KISH FUNERAL HOME INC., Legion Street, Republic, Pa., today until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. Gail E. Mason officiating. Interment will be in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa. Visitation was also held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
