Joseph E. Maraney
Joseph E. “Joe” Maraney, age 80, a resident of the Southwestern Veterans Center, Pittsburgh, Pa., died Sunday, October 31, 2004, after a long courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. A longtime resident of Uniontown, Pa., he was born February 3, 1924, the son of Joseph and Maria (Karaffa) Maraney.
“Joe” was a Veteran of World War II who served in the United States Navy Construction Battalion in the South Pacific.
He was a retired agent from American General Insurance Company.
“Joe” was a member of Saint George Serbian Orthodox Church in Carmichaels, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Zivkovich Maraney, a sister, Mary Ellen Cravotta, a brother, James Maraney, and his parents.
He is survived by a son, David Maraney and his wife, Becky, of Murrysville, Pa.; a daughter, Mary Ann Maraney Sutor and her husband, Thomas Sutor, of Pleasant Hills, Pa.; three sisters: Elizabeth Romeo, Jacqueline Steinmetz and Marilyn Walters; grandchildren: Lisa Prihoda and her husband Daniel, Amy Maraney, Elisabeth Sutor and Timothy Sutor; two great grandchildren: Ashley Prihoda and Michael Prihoda; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be received in the HART FUNERAL HOME INC., 3103 Lillian Avenue, Murrysville, PA 15668 (724-327-1100) on Tuesday, November 2, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Pomen Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Visitation continues in SAINT GEORGE SERBIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH, 296 Old Route 21, Carmichaels, Pa., on Wednesday, November 3, from 10:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Funeral Service will begin at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father Rodney Torbic as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Saint George Serbian Orthodox Church Cemetery.
