Hospitals to test emergency plans

1 min read

The Fayette County Emergency Management Agency, in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Region 13 Disaster Preparedness Working Group, will conduct a hospital emergency preparedness drill on Monday, Nov. 8, at 2:30 p.m. Uniontown, Brownsville General and Highlands hospitals will test their emergency plans in hopes to identify areas of operation that may need revisions. This exercise will not affect the ability of patients to receive normal emergency care at any of the three hospitals.

The scenario will begin sometime after 2:30 p.m. when one of the three hospitals receives a simulated bomb that destroys their emergency department. The two remaining hospitals will then deal with the injured victims from the blast. The target hospital must then also treat patients while overcome losing its emergency staff and treatment areas. Simulated victims are being provided with help from the local school districts.
