Paul H. Ruck Jr.
Paul H. Ruck Jr., age 79, of Connellsville, Pa., died Saturday, November 6, 2004 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a brief struggle with cancer.
He was born September 11, 1925 in Connellsville, Pa., son of Paul H. Ruck Sr. and Martha (Festog) Ruck.
Paul was a lifelong resident of Connellsville and graduated from the former Dunbar Township High School with the class of 1943.
After high school at the age of 17 Paul joined the Merchant Marines and shipped supplies to the military all over the world.
In 1950 Paul started work with General Motors at its Fisher Body Plant in Dravosburg as a Crane Operator. He retired from there as the Superintendent of Shipping in 1983.
After his retirement he spent much of his time at his grandsons sports activities. Through the years he was known to all of their friends as “Pappy”.
Paul was a member of East Liberty Presbyterian Church in Vanderbilt, Pa. He was also a member of the B.P.O. Elks No. 503 in Connellsville.
Paul loved semi-classical music, poetry and travel.
He was a Pittsburgh Steelers season ticket holder for 35 years and an avid college football fan.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Delores Arlene “Dorie” Rohm Ruck, with whom he celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on October 3, 2004; his loving daughter, Paula Ruck Takoch and her husband Robert of Hopwood, Pa.; his loving grandsons: Seth R. Takoch of Bethesda, Maryland, and Joel A. Takoch of Hopwood, Pa.; seven nephews: Robert Ruck, Richard Ruck, Patrick Ruck and John Ruck and their wives all of Connellsville, Edward Ruck and wife of Harrison City, Pa., Harold Ruck of Miami, Florida, Eugene Ruck and wife of Greenville, North Carolina; and a niece, Lisa Arnold and husband of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Paul was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Harold E. Ruck and his twin Robert E. Ruck.
Family and friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 EAST GREEN STREET, CONNELLSVILLE, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, November 10, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with John Jennings, Lay Minister of the church, officiating.
A Committal Service and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville, Pa.
