Funeral arrangements announced for accident victim
Funeral arrangements have been scheduled for the victim of an early Saturday morning car accident. Douglas Scott Spiker, 33, died as a result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident near his Gibbon Glade home.
State police said the accident occurred at 2:20 a.m. as the 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Spiker was driving left Five Forks Road in Wharton Township and struck two trees, both impacting the driver’s side and the second splitting the car in two.
The Fayette County Coroner’s office pronounced Spiker dead at the scene at 4:15 a.m.
An auto body mechanic who enjoyed hunting and fishing, Spiker is the son of Roy E., Sr. and Joyce J. Savage Spiker of Gibbon Glade. He was born March 5, 1971, in Uniontown.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Crystal McElroy Spiker; a brother, Roy Spiker, Jr.; a sister, Christina, and her husband, Gerald Graham of Gibbon Glade; three nieces: Holly Henckel, Amber Spiker, Mikayla Graham, and a nephew, Dylan Graham.
His grandparents, Fred and Alice Spiker and Foster and Macie Savage, preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, W.Va., Monday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Greg Moran officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Memorial Park Cemetery in Farmington.
