Truck driver exonerated

1 min read

Fayette County coroner’s jurors ruled Friday that slushy road conditions contributed to the two-vehicle accident that took the life of Justin Lee Kingan Jr. of Smithfield on Dec. 6, 2003. Kingan was driving along Monarch Road when he lost control of his car and hit a tractor-trailer head-on.

The 21-year-old died of blunt force injuries to the head and face.

Jurors also determined that not wearing a seatbelt factored into Kingan’s death.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Frederick Hoke, was held in no way responsible.
