Steve “PePe” Kino
Steve “PePe” Kino, 81, of Thompson No. 2, Pa., died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, in his home, with his family at his side. He was born Dec. 29, 1922, in Edenborn, Pa., a son of the late Charles Kino and Mary Yankulich Kino.
Steve was a member of Holy Rosary Church, Republic, Pa., and Local Construction Union No. 286 of Brownsville, Pa. He had also worked the coke ovens throughout the local area for 20 years, and he was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Charles and Michael Kino; and a sister, Ann Kino Balabon.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Adeline (Dorothy) Wajda Kino, whom he married Nov. 30, 1946; daughters, Joann Kino Monovich and husband, Joseph R., of Allison No. 2, Pa., and Debora Kino and her spouse, William Zelina of Blainesburg, Pa.; grandchildren, Scarlett Monovich Bauman and husband, Josh of Fayetteville, N.C., Joseph R. Monovich Jr., and wife, Laura of Mechanicsburg, Ohio, Jodi Zelina and husband, Shawn Paul of Williamsburg, Va., Nikki Zelina and husband, Bill Rodgers of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Genelle Zelina of Uniontown, Pa.; great-grandchildren, who always made her laugh, Jordan Bauman, Cameron and Luke Monovich and Corey Paul; and a brother, Andrew (Bertie) Kino and his wife, Vera Bolas Kino of Wickliffe, Ohio.
Friends will be received in the ROBERT T. KISH FUNERAL HOME INC., Legion Street, Republic, Pa., on Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m., and Monday until 9:30 a.m., when a Prayer Service will be held. A Funeral Mass follows at 10 a.m., in Holy Rosary Church, with the Rev. Fr. James Clark as Celebrant. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Republic. A Parish Wake Service will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m.
