Police probe beating, robbery of pizza delivery person
Uniontown city police are searching for suspects in the beating and robbery of a pizza delivery person that occurred on Lenox Street at 11:45 p.m. Sunday. Police said Donald Crum, 45, an employee of Domino’s Pizza on Morgantown Street, was sent to deliver a pizza to 196 Lenox St. when he observed three males outside waiting for him.
Crum told police he approached the group with their pizza when two or three black males jumped him from behind and one struck him on the head with a handgun. When interviewed by police, Crum was profusely bleeding from a large cut on his head and was treated by Uniontown EMS. He was then transported to the Uniontown Hospital via ambulance, police said.
Police visited 196 Lenox St. Saturday night and found it to be an abandoned house.
K-9 Sheiko, a police dog, traced the suspects from the scene east on Lenox Street to Lincoln Street then north onto Evans Street and finally to a house on Thomas Street. Police said no one answered the door when they knocked.
The officers retrieved the cell phone number from which the order to Domino’s Pizza was placed. Police said an officer would go to Cellular One to identify the caller.
Police are seeking a black male with a medium build and height and wearing a red ball cap, whom Crum described to police as one of the males outside waiting for him.
Police also are seeking a black male wearing a dark hoody and a tan mask whom Crum described to police as the one who struck him in the head with a handgun.
Four to six black males were involved in the robbery and beating of Crum, police said.
