Woman cited State police cited Catherine A. Chapman, 46, of Connellsville for criminal mischief after she allegedly threw a handful of gravel at 35-year-old Connellsville resident Dorothy A. Omatick’s vehicle, cracking the driver’s rear signal lens and chipping the paint on the driver’s side rear door handle after a disagreement between the two on Skylark Drive around 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Hit-and-run probed

State police said a 1993 Ford Tempo driven by a white man in his 30s allegedly struck 20-year-old Smithfield resident Kristeen Whoolery’s vehicle in the rear as it was stopped on Route 119, preparing to turn left around noon Saturday. Whoolery, along with her passenger, Rhea Ansel, 20, of McClellandtown, suffered from minor injuries, police said. A 3-month-old baby, also in Whoolery’s vehicle, was not injured, police said.

The Ford Tempo was found abandoned about four miles from the scene of the accident, police said. Police are continuing to investigate the incident with the showing of a photo lineup of the suspect to the witnesses of the accident.

Jennifer Price, 21, of 114 River Ave. told borough police her 1993 Ford Tempo was stolen from outside her residence Tuesday night. Police said the car is gray with registration plate FRZ5877.

State police cited William R. Wilson of Uniontown after he allegedly drove from the Route 51 Exxon without paying for $20 in gasoline around noon on Saturday.

Woman arrested

State police arrested Kelly N. Sleasman of Normallville for aggravated assault after she allegedly rammed her vehicle into the vehicle of Keith D. Swaney of Normalville on Route 711 around 9 a.m. on Sept. 23 while Swaney and William N. Light of Connellsville occupied the vehicle. Sleasman was arraigned before District Justice Deberah L. Kula and released on a $5,000 unsecured bail, police said.

Theft investigated

State police are investigating an alleged theft where someone stole items from the front porch at Larry Dennis’ 229 Baer Road residence sometime between 9:30 p.m. Thursday and 7:30 a.m. Friday. Items stolen include a portable tree stand, a fiberglass 28-inch ladder and an aluminum walking plank, police said. Fire started

State police are investigating a criminal mischief in which someone set fire to contents inside a trash collector at the rear of 64 S. Mill St., the home of Vaughn Tolbert Jr., 36, around 5 p.m. Friday. Anyone with information is asked to call state police in Uniontown at 724-439-7111.

Overdose reported

Borough police said they responded to Fort Mason Village on Wednesday morning for an apparent overdose, and, on arrival, found a 25-year-old woman in a semiconscious state lying on the sidewalk. Police said the woman told police that she took cocaine. Fayette EMS transported her to Uniontown Hospital.

Tools stolen

More than $4,900 worth of tools was reportedly stolen from 49-year-old Mike Beck’s work van while it was parked outside his 111 N. Washington St. residence Tuesday night, borough police said.

Borough police said on Tuesday afternoon a middle-aged couple in a white sedan stole $20 in gasoline from the Sweet Pea’s Food Mart located on North Main Street.

Stolen vehicle recovered

Borough police were led on a 2-mile pursuit through borough streets late Monday night before recovering a stolen red Chrysler when the driver bailed out of the vehicle at the dead end of South Washington Street. The vehicle was reported stolen from Cumberland Township, police said. Police were unable to locate the driver of the vehicle.

City police said someone drove over a walkway on Union Street, snapping an electric pole ground wire, striking a tree and a downspout and damaging the landscaping in the yard of 22 Judith St., continuing into the yard at 392 Union St. and ripping the ground wire and phone line from 404 Union St. around 2 a.m. Sunday. Police said they recovered a Dodge symbol and a section of the roof rack from the suspect vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to call officer David Rutter at 724-437-3430, ext. 306.

City police said a representative from Atlantic Broadband reported possible fraud at 10:28 a.m. Friday. According to police, the representative said someone phoned a Lincoln Street woman and told her to place a check in her mailbox for her overdue cable bill and that someone would be by at noon to pick it up. Police staked out the area for 45 minutes and said that no one entered the woman’s property.

City police charged William P. Hartley, 20, of 136 S. Beeson Ave. with theft by taking or disposition, forgery and receiving stolen property on Friday after he allegedly stole checks totaling $13,000 in cashed losses from his father, Paul Hartley of Uniontown, from May to June.
