Rubish, Vernon certified
Perryopolis District Justices Michael Rubish and South Union Township District Justice Rick Vernon were again certified as members of Pennsylvania’s Unified Judicial System after successfully completing continuing legal education course work.
The Minor Judiciary Education Board and the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts conducted the training in Chambersburg.
The weeklong instructional program is designed to ensure that district justices remain current in a variety of legal topics and management techniques required to fairly adjudicate cases and effectively run their offices.
This year’s curriculum included updates on civil and criminal law, the Motor Vehicle Code, an overview of consumer protection law and a presentation from the Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Pennsylvania.
Continuing education course work is required by statute for each of the more than 500 district justices in the state with about 45 attending one of 14 classes at some time each year.
