Burglary arrest Brian Lee McCollum, 32, of Uledi was charged with burglary and simple assault for allegedly beating Kevin Bruce Coddington, 36, in his Second Street home in Footedale at 7:04 p.m. Monday, state police said.

Coddington suffered severe facial swelling in the attack, police said. McCollum also broke a window on a truck owned by Luella Jean Harris, 34, of Footedale as he was leaving Coddington’s residence, police said.

McCollum was arrested about five miles away from the victim’s home and was arraigned. District Justice Michael Defino Jr. committed him to the county prison in lieu of $10,000 cash bond.

Equipment theft

State police said two oxygen tanks, a propane tank, a 3-foot welding torch, 100 feet of welding cable and other welding equipment were stolen from a wooded area just north of Buchanon Road near house 470 between Sept. 30 and Tuesday. Valley National Gases of Uniontown and Michael A. Upton of Connellsville were listed as the victims.

Purse stolen

State police said a purse owned by Erin Stanley, 26, of Perryopolis was stolen from Ollie’s Department Store on Route 51 Wednesday at noon.

Tools stolen

Someone broke into Wilbur Dillinger’s shed at 343 Breakiron Road and stole a chain saw and a cordless drill between 11:30 a.m. Tuesday and 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, state police said.

Theft reported

City police said Dorothy Berish reported that several compact discs and a portable CD player were stolen from her North Gallatin Avenue apartment Wednesday at 4 a.m.

Minor injury

State police said Walter Hugh Wilson, 63, Jane Nicholson, 56, and Bret A. Shallenberger, 33, were involved in an accident on Route 119 at Lewis Motors Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. Nicholson had minor injuries.

Deer struck

State police said Kristen Carr, 20, of Point Marion struck a deer on Route 40 Wednesday at 9 a.m. She was not injured.

Window broken

Someone broke a window on a vehicle owned by Robert Rummell of Dunbar at his residence between 10:50 p.m. and midnight Tuesday, state police said.

Charges filed

Police filed charges against the following individuals in unrelated incidents:

– Lisa Pierce, 29, of 502 N. Pittsburgh St., for harassment after she allegedly threatened, struck and left threatening voice mail messages to an unidentified woman on Sept. 30.

– Wendy Newcomer, 37, of 227 1/2 E. South St., for public drunkenness after she was allegedly found by police in an intoxicated condition and creating a disturbance along Johnson Avenue on Oct. 3.

– Samuel R. Towson, 39, of 602 Connell Ave. for public drunkenness after he was allegedly found by police in an intoxicated condition along Connell Avenue on Oct. 2.

– William Pahula, 30, of 409 S. Arch St. for public drunkenness after he was allegedly found by police in an intoxicated condition along South Arch Street on Oct. 2.

– Jason E. Pacy, 23, of 27 Jefferson Drive, Monessen, for public drunkenness after he was allegedly found by police in an intoxicated condition along South Arch Street on Oct. 2.

– Jason E. Staley, 26, of 210 E. South St. for public drunkenness after he was allegedly found by police in an intoxicated condition along South Prospect Street on Oct. 2.

Theft from vehicle

State police said several credit cards and other items were stolen from a car owned by Rosella Catherine Springsteen, 64, of Fairchance on Sept. 26 or 27.

Criminal mischief

Southwest Regional police cited David A. Walters, 47, of 5 Linden Ave., Monessen, for criminal mischief, criminal trespassing and two counts of disorderly conduct following an incident at JC Cherocci’s Bar on Main Street in Belle Vernon early Sunday.

According to police, Walters entered the bar around 2:25 a.m. Sunday and refused to leave after he was refused service.

Walters then allegedly picked up a peanut machine and smashed it on the floor.

Charges were filed before District Justice Jesse Cramer.

Sign torn down

A CSX railroad crossing sign was discovered downed at the intersection of Morgan and Fourth streets in Newell Tuesday at 7:03 p.m.

House egged

According to Southwest Regional police, someone threw eggs at the residence of James and Sue Livingstone of 415 Fourth St., Newell. The incident occurred between midnight and 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police at 724-929-8484.

Hit-and-run probed

State police the unknown driver of a 1995 Ford fled after hitting an embankment and a tree before the vehicle rolled onto its roof along Baker Hill Road on Sept. 14. McClellandtown Volunteer Fire Department assisted.

North Union Twp.

Three-vehicle accident

State police said drivers Kathryn Molchan of Uniontown, Jeremy Metts of Hopwood and Marissa Gall of Uniontown were involved in an accident Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. along North Gallatin Avenue Extension. Metts sustained a minor injury, police said, while Molchan suffered moderate injuries.
