Local NAACP branch holds annual event

The NAACP Fayette County branch held its 15th annual Human Rights Dinner at the Youghiogheny Western Baptist Association Inc. headquarters and Christian center, Uniontown, on Saturday with the theme “The Vision, Victory and Reality – Brown v. Board of Education.” Pictured(from left) are Mae V. Thomas, judge of elections, Uniontown fourth ward, and the Rev. Clara Yarborough, judge of elections, Redstone Township, who were presented with public service awards; Charmaine Sampson, representing Fayette County Commissioner Joseph A. Hardy III, who was honored as citizen of the year; and Carolyn Capozza, judge of elections, German Township, fifth ward, and Rosemary Woods, majority inspector, German Township, sixth ward, who received public service awards. Also receiving public service awards, but not pictured, are Catherine Johns and Agnes Tarpley.
