Comments sought on zoning ordinance

1 min read

The Fayette County Office of Planning, Zoning and Community Development is reminding property owners to review the proposed unified land development ordinance (zoning, subdivision, and land development) and the proposed zoning map. The office is still accepting written comments or suggestions on changes for both the zoning map and ordinance text. A series of public meetings were held recently, with comments still under review.

The project has been ongoing for approximately two years, and the Fayette County commissioners are expected to vote on it at the end of December.

Municipal officials were provided with another opportunity to provide their input on the zoning map for their municipality as well as the text. Zoning officials said public comments are vital during the public planning process.

Residents can review the zoning map and ordinance at the planning office, located on the fourth floor of the courthouse, or they may call the office for their proposed zoning every Thursday at 724-430-1210, extension 204. The office asks residents to be prepared to provide their tax map parcel number for each parcel they are inquiring about.
