MORNING STAR BAPTIST CHURCH, Newell, will hold a Halloween alternative, “Beyond the Grave’ Friday and Saturday and again on Oct. 29 and 30 from 6 to 9 p.m. For more information, contact Angel Zueger at 724-785-8513. CALIFORNIA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Third and Liberty streets, is holding its annual Christmas greenery sale. Orders are being taken for live, cut Christmas greens for cemetery grave pillows, blankets, and wreaths and sprays for home use. Prices range from $15 to $45. For a list of available items or to place orders, call 724-938-2270 or stop at the church office from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Thursday, to pick up an order form. Pick-up will be on Nov. 29. Deadline to order is Nov. 15.
ST. JOHN CHURCH, West Crawford Avenue, Connellsville, (across from Sheetz) will hold its annual fall baked chicken dinner on Sunday beginning at 11:30 a.m. in the social hall. Costs are $7 for adults and $3 for children under age 10. Take-outs will be available. Tickets will be sold at the door.
