Joseph E. Cope, 97, of Uniontown, Pa., died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004, in Beverly Health Care Center, Uniontown. He was born on July 16, 1907, in Dunbar, Pa., son of the late Nichlous and Johanna (Rosenweigh) Cope.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven sisters and two brothers, Anna Seehoffer, Elizabeth Willard, Gertrude Seehoffer, Irene Bereiter, Margaret Kaylor, Alice Clarkson, Mildred Lawson, John Cope and Carl Cope.

Joseph was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, where he served as an usher. He was employed for many years with Carl Ramsey Chevrolet in Brownsville. Joseph was also a former member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge 370.

Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews and a good friend, Julia Sible of Uniontown, Pa.

Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNEAL HOME INC., A Dignity Memorial Provider, 603 North Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, from 10 to 10:30 a.m., when prayers will be said. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Uniontown, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Fr. William J. Kiel as celebrant. Interment will follow in Park Place Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church or The American Heart Association.
