Mary Elizabeth “Bitz” Monaghan Alexander
Mary Elizabeth “Bitz” Monaghan Alexander, age 90, of Lebanon, Virginia, passed away Saturday morning, October 23, 2004, in the Hummingbird Retirement Home.
She was born December 11, 1913, in Lamberton, Fayette County, Pa., daughter of Edward and Anna (Blanc) Monaghan.
Mrs. Alexander was a member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Richlands, Virginia, and attended Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Lebanon.
She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society in Logan, West Virginia, a retired office clerk from Island Creek Coal Company, a member of the Holden Women’s Garden Club, and was a member and past president of the Holden Teen Club.
She was predeceased by her husband, David R. Alexander Sr., a son, David R. Alexander Jr., a sister, Irene Smith, five brothers, Edward, John, James, Francis and Patrick, and her parents.
She is survived by two sons: Tom and his wife, Terry, of Johnson City, Tennessee, and Mike and his wife, Lisa, of Boca Raton, Florida; grandchildren: Christopher Alexander, Ryan Alexander, Meghan Alexander and Justin Alexander, David R. Alexander III and his wife Shelley, and Stephen Alexander and his wife Bonnie; three great grandchildren: David R. Alexander IV, Ashley Alexander and Amethyst Alexander; a daughter-in-law, Elaine Alexander of Beckley, West Virginia; two brothers: Robert Monaghan and his wife, Margaret, of Uniontown, Pa., and William Monaghan of Akron, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, 35 South Mill Street, New Salem, Pa., today from 6 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, October 26, until 9:30 a.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. in Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Republic, Pa., with the Rev. Father James Clark as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Mount Saint Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa.
