Uniontown Social Security aid focus of business
Merwyn Price has opened Price Associates, Social Security Representatives, located at Suite 501 National City Building, 2 W. Main St., Uniontown.
“Most people don’t realize that more than half of all Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) disability claims are denied the first time,” Price said. “If a claim is denied, however, the applicant has 60 days to file an appeal.
And with the help of an experienced Social Security/SSI representative, over half of appealed disability claims are approved at the hearing level.”
A life-long resident of Fayette County, Price recently retired after more than 30 years working for the Social Security Administration and Office of Hearings and Appeals.
Local residents may recognize Price as a former claims representative in the Uniontown Social Security District Office where he served for 24 years before transferring to the Office of Hearings and Appeals in Morgantown, W. Va. With the Office of Hearings and Appeals, he was a paralegal analyst and supervisor until his retirement on Sept. 30.
“I’ve handled hundreds and hundreds of disability claims during my tenure with the administration,” he said, “including everything from taking initial applications to writing hearing decisions for Administrative Law Judges. I fully understand the issues and problems encountered by anyone applying for Social Security or SSI disability benefits, and I have the experience to give the applicant a fighting chance.”
Price Associates is now accepting clients who live in southwestern Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia, areas served by the hearing office in Morgantown.
Price offers a full range of disability appeal services to his clients, including development of medical evidence, advice on how to prepare for the hearing, attendance at the hearing, presentation of the case to the Administrative Law Judge, cross examination of witnesses and follow up to assure proper payment of client benefits.
