Robert J. Opachko
Robert James Opachko of Uniontown, Pa., passed away suddenly on Friday morning, Sept. 3, 2004, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. Born in Uniontown, Pa., he was the son of Anna Hobi Opachko of Uniontown, and the late Michael Opachko.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel F. Opachko.
Robert was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, a retired teacher of Math in the Prince Georges County School District in Maryland, was a master kayaker, graduated from South Union High School, and California State in California, Pa.
He is survived by his beloved mother, Anna; brothers and sisters, Michael Opachko and wife, Dolores of Vienna, Va., Joan Bridges and husband, Glenn of Sacramento, Calif., and Elaine Byrd and husband, Clancy of Uniontown; nieces and nephews, Sharon Kaup, Debra Scipioni, Michael Opachko, Kenneth Opachko, Daniel Opachko, Edward Opachko and Angela Opachko; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN E. KEZMARSKY III FUNERAL HOME, AT 71 PENNSYLVANIA AVE., UNIONTOWN, PA., on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m., on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.,where a prayer service will be held on Tuesday morning, Sept. 7, 2004, followed by a Divine Liturgy, both at a time to be announced, with the Rev. Fr. Thomas Wesdock as Celebrant. Interment follows in St. John Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Hopwood, Pa.
