Opal Rowan Smith, age 70, of Uniontown, Pa., died Friday, September 3, 2004, in Masonic Village, Sewickley, Pa., following a lengthy illness.

She was born June 20, 1934, in Connellsville, Pa., a daughter of Arthur Rowan and Ruth (Ohler) Rowan.

Mrs. Smith was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and had been employed for many years with the now former Service Radio and Electric in Uniontown.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Michael M. and Robert R. Smith, and a sister, Betty Jane May.

Surviving are her husband, Richard M. Smith of Uniontown; a son, Richard D. Smith and his wife, Rosemary, of Lemont Furnace, Pa.; a daughter, Jane Ann Collins and her husband, Dale, of Pittsburgh, Pa., with whom she made her home; a grandson, Bryan Smith; and a brother, William Arthur Rowan and his wife, Kay, of Arizona.

Friends will be received in the JEROME W. SHELL FUNERAL HOME, 164 South Mount Vernon Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, September 7, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with the Rev. Jeffrey L. Popson officiating.

Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Masonic Village, 1000 Masonic Drive, Sewickley, PA 15142-2359.
