Southwest Regional police cited Lynne Feeney, 40, of 108 Long St., Newell, for disorderly conduct following an incident with another Newell resident on Sept. 7 at 12:39 p.m.

Robbery

Tricia M. Kauffman, of 26 Sampson St., Belle Vernon, told Southwest Regional police that she was outside her home Sunday around 1 p.m. when a passing vehicle stopped and asked for directions.

Kaufman told police that the passenger in the vehicle then grabbed her purse. Kaufman’s arm was entangled in the strap of the purse and she was dragged about 100 feet before freeing herself. The victim sustained unspecified injuries. The purse contained $44.

The passenger is described as a white male around 24 years old, with a thin build and blond hair. He was wearing a nylon skull cap. The vehicle was described as a brownish two-door vehicle.

Woman arrested

Perryopolis police said Debra Jindra, 49, of Dawson was arrested Wednesday during a traffic stop on Route 51 on a bench warrant issued by Washington County. Police said Jindra was transported to the Fayette County Prison.

Man arrested

The Washington County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force arrested a 19-year-old Rices Landing man Tuesday on two arrest warrants for sale of heroin to an undercover officer.

The charges against Brian J. Gilpin of 200 Carmichaels St., who was arrested by task force detectives and Canonsburg police on Duquesne Avenue, stemmed from an investigation that began in the Midland section of Chartiers Township, Washington County. As a result, an undercover task force detective allegedly purchased heroin from Gilpin on two separate dates in July.

Gilpin was arraigned on both charges and committed to the Washington County Prison in lieu of $5,000 cash bond.

Citation issued

Southwest Regional police cited Richard Feeney, 50, of Long St., Newell, for disorderly conduct after an incident Sept. 7 at 12:39 p.m. at 415 Fourth St., Newell. The citation was filed with District Justice Jesse Cramer.

Man cited

Brownsville police cited Rodney Weight, 20, of 100 High St., Brownsville, for underage drinking, prohibited offensive weapons, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, terroristic threats and recklessly endangering another person after he allegedly threatened his father with a knife at 10:30 p.m. Sept. 5.

Brownsville police said Barbara Miscovich, 34, of 1308 W. Penn Blvd., Uniontown, lost control of her car on Broadway Street around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and hit some large shrubs near Ann Street.

Eric DeFrank of 217 Lynn Road told Brownsville police that he left his handgun, a Para Ordinance Model p13 .45 caliber, valued at $700, on his nightstand around 7 a.m. Sept. 3, and when he returned home at 11:20 p.m., it was gone.

An attendant at the Exxon station in Brownsville told police that a short, white man 30 to 40 years old with gray hair, a thin build and driving an older dark blue Chevrolet Cavalier threatened him with a gun Wednesday.

Lance Hewett of 121 Broad St., Brownsville, told police Wednesday that his Verizon cellular telephone, valued at $340, has been missing since around Sept. 2.

Brownsville police said a clerk at the A-Plus in Brownsville reported that a white man wearing a white T-shirt, jeans and a blue ball cap on backward robbed Lenny Lancaster of 143 Prospect St. at the A-Plus around 2:55 a.m. Tuesday.

A 1989 Ford utility truck with tools and equipment, valued at $12,000, was stolen from Lee’s Excavating and Plumbing on Footedale Road between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 6:50 a.m. Wednesday, state police said. Bolt cutters were used to break into the business.

A John Deere riding mower with a 48-inch deck and a trimmer were stolen from a shed at Bullskin Elementary School between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday, state police said.

Theft investigated

State police said James R. Sherbaugh, 39, of Kelley Street reported that a known person used his personal information to open several credit card accounts and make purchases between Jan. 28 and Aug. 31. The Westmoreland County detective’s office is investigating the case.

Cyclist, passenger hurt

State police said Edwin R. Pettitt, 43, of Hopwood lost control of his motorcycle on Route 40 just east of Caney Valley Road Monday at 6:06 p.m. He and his passenger, Kathleen M. Smitley, 39, of Uniontown, fell from bike as it fell on its side. Neither was wearing a helmet and both were transported to Uniontown Hospital with minor and moderate injuries.

A Dish Network satellite receiver was stolen from Margaret Conaway’s East Millsboro residence between July 31 and Sunday, state police said.

Jackhammer taken

A Bosch model 11304 electric jackhammer was stolen from Edward C. Wearne’s Bryson Boulevard home Monday between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. State police said someone cut a screen and entered through a window. Police ask anybody with information about the burglary to call the station at 724-439-7111.

State police said someone unsuccessfully tried to break into three homes on Narrows Road between 10:30 p.m. Monday and 5 a.m. Tuesday. The homeowners are Joseph S. Colamartino, Patricia A. Daniels and Robert B. Gigliotti.

Woman beaten, robbed

State police said a 26-year-old LaBelle woman went to an area near vacant units in Snyder Terrace to buy drugs Tuesday at 10:15 p.m., but was beaten and robbed by an unknown male suspect. She was taken to Uniontown Hospital. The incident remains under investigation.

Someone used the identification of Robert Theodore Frederick of Acme to open a Western Union account Sept. 2 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., state police said.

DUI charged

Driving under the influence charges were filed against Evan Farner, 20, of Pittsburgh for an accident Aug. 29 at 1 a.m. on a state road, state police said. Charges were filed at District Justice Michael Rubish’s office.

State police said a known 33-year-old male suspect broke a window and knocked holes in a door at Robin E. Heathcock’s residence off Broadford Road Sunday at 1:40 a.m.

Car stereo stolen

A Pioneer car stereo was stolen from a vehicle owned by Shannon R. Delorenzo of Uniontown on Aug. 18 or 19 while it was parked at Engle’s Garage on North Gallatin Avenue. State police said the vehicle was not locked.

Woman dragged

City police said 77-year-old Marcia E. Cohen of Heritage Hills suffered only minor injuries when her car apparently slipped out of park and dragged her across the Mount Vernon Towers parking lot on West Main Street Wednesday at 11:35 a.m.

The shifter apparently was not fully in park and she left the car door open when she got out, police said. The door hit her as the car drifted backwards and dragged her about 30 feet before she fell to the ground. The left front wheel ran over her legs and the car traveled another 50 feet before it hit another vehicle, police said. Both vehicles had minor damages. Police said Cohen had only some scrapes on her knees.

Two-car accident

State police said Chelsea Matthews of Uniontown and Edward Gazda of Republic were involved in an accident on Route 40 at Stone Church Road at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 29. Nobody was injured.

An unknown male fled Dairy Mart on Dixon Boulevard Monday at 1:20 p.m. in a gray station wagon without paying for $21.27 in gasoline, state police said.

Debra Jinda, 49, of Dawson was arrested on a bench warrant from Washington County during a traffic stop on Route 51 Wednesday at 3:48 p.m., borough police said. She was taken to the Fayette County Prison.

State police said a known female hit Christopher Dale Fitzpatrick of Smithfield in the head with a cup at 502 Second St. Tuesday at 11:30 p.m.

State police said Rose Perhus of New Salem reported Wednesday that someone she knows took her car without her permission on Saturday and has not returned it.

Ohiopyle

Trailer catches fire

Five mountain area fire companies rushed to an early morning fire Thursday as a trailer along Friendsville Road erupted into flames despite steady rain falling.

According to an Ohiopyle Volunteer firefighter, flames and smoke were visible when crews arrived on the scene to extinguish the blaze.

Brian VanSickle, Farmington fire chief, said one was injured in the fire and noted that the bedroom and a hallway were destroyed.

Fire companies from Markleysburg, Farmington, Ohiopyle, Hopwood and Addison responded to the blaze.
