CALVARY ASSEMBLY OF GOD, 1316 S. Pittsburgh St., Connellsville, will host Last Generation for a Southern gospel concert on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Formed in 1982, Last Generation includes the duet of Mike and Karen Matieszyn. The couple has made six recordings. Their latest release is “Johnson Family Pew’ and can be found in Christian bookstores. CDs will also be available at the concert.
The church also announces it will celebrate the burning of the church mortgage in a victory service on Sunday, Sept. 19, at 10:30 a.m. According to the Rev. Matthew Goldsberry, Calvary has a rich history in the Connellsville area and is affiliated with the Assemblies of God in Springfield, Mo. Officials said, “Being free of the mortgage will allow the church more opportunity to minister to the needs inside the church, in the community and around the world.’ The celebration begins with a 10:30 a.m. service, followed by a covered dish dinner at noon.
